how it all started...

It all started back in 1985 when I finished college in Minnesota and was still in a quandary over what I really wanted to do with my life. I graduated from college with a business degree and decided to work at Best Buy while looking for a "real" job. While I was working there I found myself always going to the customer's houses after work, because even back then, people couldn't properly hook up their VCR's, TV's, and stereos.

Very soon I realized there was a need for this service, and when I moved to North Carolina, I decided to give it a whirl. I received some resistance at first. People would say, "I see no need for your service" (from the Circuit City GM) and "I don't understand what you do?" and of course, "no one will pay you to do that." I found all those responses to be fascinating, and deep inside I felt they were wrong. So in 1986 I started "The Video Doctor" where we installed electronics, cleaned and repaired TV's and VCR's, and also rented camcorders, TV's, and other electronic necessities.

Eventually we expanded into the audio side of the business, and became experts at fishing wires, even the ones the other guys said were impossible to fish. We installed satellites when the satellite guys said it couldn't be done. We finally changed our name to "Dr. Video" to shed some of the repair stigma, and to focus on the installation side of the business.

Today we are a full service, factory authorized dealer for dozens of brands, and still saying "yes" when the other guys say "no." Our clients are family, and we will do everything in our power to keep them with us for life!
